Hey, you know what?? That starter motor will work for on 12 volts, but don't run it too long (a minute at a time maybe) it will develop around 2 horsepower and push your cart around nicely. The starter motor is rated "intermittant Duty" which means you can't run it continuously without burning up. For all you guys that disagree that the starter motor will work remember three things: first it has to be cheap; next it is for a school project (not NASA); third, its gonna be all sorts of fun and a good learning experience for the lad- basically how not to build something but still have fun- OK??

Gray car motor? You mean the Alternator? That will not "power" anything without being driven itself.

As for an electric lawnmower... well... those run on A/C current... not D/C (which is what a car battery is) So unless you're planning on running an extension cord from your school all over the place... this will not work. You can jump wire four 12v car batteries into 48volts but still will not work

A strong D/C powered electric motor will cost just as much if not more than a gasoline powered engine.

Go to...
www.northerntool.com
They sell go-kart parts, and engines fairly cheap.

- Good Luck!

I think it has more to do with the Democrats pandering to the whims of environmentalist wackos. If this administration stays around for any length of time, their pundits will begin legislating penalties for any one still driving an all gasoline fuel vehicle. Its all about taking our freedoms away. These alternative fuel activists seem to also forget these cars have to be charged every night. This is going to drive up the demand and cost of electricity. Electricity, unless generated by a hydroelectric plant is produced from burning coal (Ooops, another carbon foot print). Perhaps we're seeing the birth of Big coal or Big electric power companies.

Absolutely not, this election was about people being disappointed with the number of unemployed, and the price of oil, and the condition of the economy as a whole. Which they blamed the Republican Party for, when the Democratic House and Senate blocked former President Bush whenever he tried to do something to help the economy.
People voted for Barack Obama out of frustration and anger, when Obama sold the voters a pipe dream that he would change the country.
He is only one person, and he has to also cooperate with the House and Senate or he will have a lonely 4 years as POTUS.
Also, many problems that the country is facing as a whole are a result of the Democratic Party, and the Presidency of Bill Clinton.

I believe these two giant energy businesses and corporations will and have always battled one another. This has nothing to do with Barack winning the election however. It is something he has to deal with now that he's president. From what ive seen with his speeches he does support clean coal.

For them yes... For us NO.

We are mostly tired of war. I did not vote for barack but I hope he can bring Change. I hope that Global warming gets put on a screaching halt.

I should have voted for him.
